The Shadow™ and Montauk-Shadow™ are kits
based on the popular T-Topless™ folding, stainless steel
T-Top concept and patent.
Designed for "Do-It-Yourselfers", these T-Top kits are
a great value in a welded, stainless steel frame, folding T-Top for your
center console or Rigid Inflatable (RIB) boat.
The Shadow™ and Montauk-Shadow™ combine
the fishability and convenience of a center console mounted top with the ability
to lower (or remove) the top in seconds to store the boat
in your garage, short dry stack, boat house
or under a boat cover.

NEW Curved Cross-Bar added in June 2011
While the T-Topless Shadow™ works great and has been a great value,
many boaters have asked for a more stylish look.
So, we went back to the drawing board (literally) and made a few changes to the frames,
curved the rear cross bar, built the new Shadow and tested it.

The T-Topless Shadow™
mounts on the windshield grab bars of your center console or RIB boat
using heavy duty 316 stainless steel grab clamshell clamps
in less than an hour.

All you need to install is:

Mounts without drilling ANY holes in your boat!
The T-Topless Shadow™ mounts on your windshield grab
rails with two pairs of stainless steel split rail clamps.
All other after-market T-Tops mount to the floor using wood screws,
which don't hold up over time.
So, you don't need to drill ANY holes in your fiberglass (shudder) or try
to get wood screws to hold!

The Shadow™ lowers in seconds
Pull 2 quick-release pins and rotate forward, below the windshield grab bar height
in less than 30 seconds. Or remove the 2 front pivots to take the top completely
off on cool days or for fly-fishing.
If you take the top off for the day, its 52" width
fits inside most full-size SUV's, including:
Expedition, Excursion, Suburban, Denali, Tahoe, Sequoia, Navigator,
Hummer or any pickup truck.
The top raises just as easily, and locks in place with the
lanyard-attached quick-release toggle pins.

The Shadow™ fits in your garage
T-Topless Shadow™ lowers below windshield height
(below the gunwales on some boats) to fit in your garage,
shed, barn, a shorter (cheaper) dry stack space or under bridges.
If you use a boat cover, the T-Topless Shadow™ will
usually fit under the cover,
and even helps hold the boat cover up to avoid sagging and collection of rain water.

We put the Shadow™ on our Yamaha 200 powered Sea Pro 180,
which has been clocked on GPS at 67mph.
The Shadow™ was very stable, creating a little down-force
which made it nice and stiff.
At the time of this video, we didn't offer the optional stabilizer bar,
which offers lateral stability (reduces swaying).
The top performed fine (as you'll see in the video),
but we felt the stabilizer was an important option for heavier seas.

Continue using your center console's rod holders...
In most cases, the T-Topless Shadow™ provides enough clearance
for you to continue to use the factory rod holders on the side of your console.
You can't store rods there with a bimini top or most large after-market T-Tops.

No annoying bimini top frame or straps!
The T-Topless Shadow™ mounts entirely to the
center console with four rail clamps,
so there is no bimini top frame or ugly, flapping straps in the way on the
side of your boat, allowing you to fish or get in the boat safely.
The Shadow™ is built for fishermen, by fishermen. It provides the shade you need,
with the convenience of a center console mounted T-Top, yet folds so you
can store it in the garage!
You can even add options like the Gear Loft or Rod Holders, which just aren't
practical on a bimini top.

Solid construction
To ensure strength, each side of the Shadow's™ frame is formed from highly polished,
0.049 inch wall thickness AISI type 304L stainless steel tubing which is
orbital TIG welded to polished AISI type 316 stainless steel cast fittings.

Ercolina® MB42 Numerical Control (NC) Bender provides smooth, consistent, high-quality tube bends.
|
The fittings are welded to the tubing using a state-of-the art
Swagelok® Orbital Computer Controlled Tungsten Inert Gas
(TIG) Welder, just like NASA, aircraft manufacturers, ship builders,
chemical and nuclear plants use for high quality, consistent, near perfect welds.

Optional Gear Loft
The optional Gear Loft is custom fit to the Shadow folding T-Top to provide
overhead storage for 3 or 4 PFDs (life preservers), towels, throwable cushions and other light gear,
freeing up floor space and valuable storage lockers for dry goods like tackle, jackets,
gear, food or coolers.
Made of open-weave, breathable Phifertex® PVC-coated polyester by Phifer
with nylon webbing sewn around all edges and nickel plated grommets just like the Sunbrella® canvas,
the Gear Loft will protect your gear and allow it to breathe and dry to avoid mold and mildew.
The Gear Loft laces onto the Shadow T-Top frame, under the Sunbrella® canvas
in about 20 minutes.
Unlike other T-Top storage options, the Shadow Gear Loft doesn't hang down below the T-Top frame,
instead staying out of view, and "out of your space" ... and ... you can tow your boat with the Gear Loft in place,
as the front closes with a Velcro® strap!
As soon as we put one on our demo boat we discovered that we had a whole locker up front to put
beach or fishing gear in. Amazing!

Optional Rod Holders ...
Polished stainless steel clamp-on Rod Holders can be
mounted on sides or rear for out of the way rod storage.
We recommend mounting them on the side to provide more fishing clearance in the rear,
plus they look cool this way!
Mounting them on the sides also makes them useful for trolling "way-back"
rigs up high, out of the way.

kit version of the T-Topless™ providing a great value for those
"Do-It-Yourselfers" who like to put things together themselves
(and don't need a built-in navigation light).
Like the T-Topless, the Shadow™ kit is a 1"OD stainless frame folding top
with welded fittings
which assembles and installs in about an hour,
provides refreshing shade and raises, lowers or removes in seconds
to fit in a garage or under a boat cover.
In order to fit most center console boats and RIB rail configurations,
this universal kit is available in:
- 5 different height/rake configurations,
- 3 different rear leg lengths,
- 2 front mounts (7/8" or 1") sizes,
